Swirl attempt 1.. failed..

The soapmaker's corner will be having a swap soon, with the swirl technique used.. I would really love to participate, except that I have never done a swirl before!! *slaps forehead* The soapers there are really nice people who encouraged me to participate even though I’m such a newbie so I thought I would practice for a few times and decide before the deadline..

Today was my first attempt and although I’ve anticipated failure, I still felt bad crap when i failed.. *sigh* how can it be possible for so many things to go wrong?? First of all, I poured way too much oil into my pot.. Not only one type, but every type of oil which was on my recipe.. Is there anyone on earth that is clumsier than me?? I bet not.. So, I had to recalculate my recipe to make it usable..

Secondly, when I tried to add in one teaspoon of pink clay, I accidentally spilled a whole lot of it into one third of my soap mixture.. So instead of soft pink, I got dark maroon..

And finally, when I tried to pour the maroon mixture into the mold where my two third base mixture is, it went in alright, but in a blob instead of the thin lines I have in mind.. So now the whole top is maroon.. I still stirred a little, hoping that it will turn out looking better..

And that, was my sad, first swirl attempt..

I'm sure it will turn out!!
My first swirl *like 2 weeks ago* I did the same with the clay. I was going for a pinkish color, but ended up with a brown. It worked with the coconut sent though! Lol!
My (less than perfect) swirls arw getting better, the one thing I've found out though is to get the color deeper, pour your color while holding it like a foot above your mold. I use loaf molds, so I need it to really get in there.
Can't wait to see pics!!
